A two-day workshop to understand how we tackle with FAIR in our research and data management – October 1-2 2020
The European Open Science Cloud (EOSC) Photon and Neutron Data Service (ExPaNDS) project will expand, accelerate and support the data management and data services provided through the EOSC for major national Photon and Neutron Research Infrastructures (PaN RIs) in delivering world-leading science.
This first online workshop in a series of two aimed at instrument scientists and other facility staff provides an overview of FAIR – data that are findable, accessible, interoperable, and reusable. We consider key questions related to the data facilities produce: What is FAIR? What’s the difference between FAIR and Open? What are the benefits of FAIR for the photon and neutron community? How do I start to make data FAIR? Examples from a range of facilities connect the concept of FAIR to practice, highlighting the vital role facilities play in supporting FAIR for photon and neutron research.
We believe that these workshops could be interesting for facilities staff from different RI, not necessarily synchrotrons, to understand how we tackle with FAIR in our research and data management.
