The Fondazione Opificio was established in 2018 by the Fondazione CR Firenze, within the Art and Cultural Activities Sector, as an instrumental body aimed at actively contributing to the valorization and development of the Opificio delle Pietre Dure, one of the most important Florentine cultural institutions, a world leader in the field of restoration and science applied to Cultural Heritage.
This year, Fondazione Opificio has launched its programme of short courses, offering hands-on workshops and seminars on heritage conservation practices, risk preparedness, and technical methodologies. With topics ranging from emergency management of cultural assets to non-invasive diagnostic techniques and textile conservation, these courses provide an opportunity for professionals and students to deepen their expertise in heritage science.
Among the upcoming highlights:
- Introduzione alle tecniche di indagine non invasive per la lettura dell’opera (31 May – 7 June): a seminar on the application of non-invasive analysis techniques;
- La manutenzione e l’esposizione dei manufatti tessili (13 September): focusing on textile display and preventive care;
- Gestire l’emergenza (27 settembre): archivi e biblioteche: seminar promotes best practices for preventing and managing emergencies in archives and libraries
- Gestire l’emergenza: strategie di prevenzione e risposta al rischio (22–29 November): a seminar addressing risk preparedness and emergency response planning for cultural heritage;
- Mist-Lining Workshop Edizione Firenze 2025 (6-8 October): a pratical workshop on the innovative, non-invasive method for structurally reinforcing canvas paintings
All courses are held in Florence, and are open to national and international participants.
