The  CNR - National Research Council, under the supervision of the Ministry of Education, University and Research, with the task of carrying out, promoting, disseminating, transferring and enhancing scientific and technological research activities in the main sectors of knowledge development and their applications. The Council promotes scientific, technological, economic and social progress and effective European and international cooperation in all fields of knowledge.
CNR is a member of the European Heads of the Research Councils Association (EuroHORCs), of the European Science Foundation (ESF), and of Science Europe (SE).
CNR is a long-term stakeholder in the framework of European projects with over 700 projects funded in FP7 and is currently the lead partner of E-RIHS, European Research Infrastructure for Heritage Science, and the European project IPERION HS, Integrated Platform for the European Research Infrastructure On Heritage Science.
CNR participates in the Italian E-RIHS node with the institutes:

  • ISPC (Istituto di Scienze del Patrimonio Culturale – Firenze, Milano, Roma, Catania, Potenza, Lecce)
  • SCITEC (Istituto di Scienze e Tecnologie Chimiche “Giulio Natta” – Perugia)

  • ISTI (Istituto di Scienza e Tecnologie dell’Informazione – Pisa)

CNR SCITEC collaborates with SMAArt, the Center of Excellence of the University of Perugia , recognised for its significant experience in the study and conservation of works of art.
