LABORATORY: CNR ISTI – Visual Computing Lab
NAME OF THE INSTRUMENT
GOM Atos 5M structured light scanner; software to process the acquired data and make them accessible on the web
GENERAL DESCRIPTION
The production of 3D digital models that represent the external surface of a minor or medium-scale work of art (from a few centimeters up to 2-3 meters in width or height) can be achieved through active 3D scanning systems that adopt the principle of optical triangulation (http://vcg.isti.cnr.it/ )
TECHNICAL DESCRIPTION
CNR ISTI has a GOM Atos 5M structured light system, a high precision metrological instrument.
In the context of a 3D digitization project, CNR ISTI can provide the acquisition tool, specialized software for data processing and highly qualified personnel for planning and carrying out the scanning action and subsequent processing.
CNR ISTI also offers skills and tools for the interactive online visualization of digitized data, creating custom systems focused on the study and presentation to the public.
