Il sito si trova in un&#8217;area prevalentemente vulcanica, nella quale le ricerche archeologiche hanno evidenziato come l&#8217;area fosse intensamente popolata durante l&#8217;et\u00e0 del bronzo e del ferro (XVIII-VIII secolo a.C.), epoca a risalgono numerosi siti nuragici, tra spicca Bruncu &#8216;e s&#8217;Omu, caratterizzata da un monumentale Nuraghe ed un insediamento capannicolo. L\u2019obiettivo dei rilievi LiDAR \u00e8 stato quello allargare il campo di indagine in un\u2019area densamente boscata, difficile da indagare con metodi tradizionali di ricognizione e di rilievo topografico. I rilievi LiDAR da drone, eseguiti con un\u2019elevata densit\u00e0 di punti, opportunamente elaborati con procedimenti di estrazione automatica, incluso tecniche di machine learning, hanno evidenziato numerose variazioni topografiche e micro topografiche che, in gran parte, le ricognizioni a terra hanno rivelato essere di notevole interesse archeologico, tra cui spiccano le rovine di un Nuraghe e le strutture di due insediamenti capannicoli. Gli importanti dati scientifici messi in luce durante le ricerche hanno evidenziato da un lato le grandi potenzialit\u00e0 del LiDAR su drone, che per la prima volta \u00e8 stato applicato in contesti nuragici, dall\u2019altro allargano notevolmente l\u2019area di indagine, ponendo nuove domande sulla funzione e l\u2019importanza del sito di Bruncu &#8216;e s&#8217;Omu di Villa
