Its particle accelerator produces intense X-ray beams that thousands of scientists use each year for experiments in diverse fields such as biology, medicine, environmental sciences, cultural heritage, materials science, and physics.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In this context, a facilitated and regular access (the \u201chistorical materials BAG\u201d)&nbsp;has been implemented to analyze historical materials with X-ray diffraction techniques. Thanks to the instrument&#8217;s high throughput, more than 500 samples from artistic materials are analyzed annually. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A short-term data steward position for research on Cultural Heritage has now become available. The successful candidate will be expected to start work immediately and hold the position for three years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As part of a group of 10 engineers, the candidate will participate in a project to implement FAIR data management practices for datasets collected through this BAG. The candidate will collaborate closely with software engineers on data management, databases, data processing, metadata collection, and web portals. They will also interact with scientists and users to automate their data management needs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&nbsp;Missions will be the following:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>creating a database containing processed data and relevant metadata of the Heritage BAG experiments<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>implementing tools to acquire better and store data and metadata<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>implementing tools to analyze data better and ultimately exploit the database and the BAG data corpus<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>training the BAG users in the use of these tools and in following Open Science best practices.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.scitec.cnr.it\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">CNR-SCITEC<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnrs.fr\/en\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">CNRS<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/rijksmuseum.nl\/nl\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Rijksmuseum<\/a> are also involved in the research activity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Further details about the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/esrf.gestmax.eu\/1805\/1\/data-steward-for-research-on-cultural-heritage\/en_US\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">position&nbsp;<\/a>and the&nbsp;project&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/oscars-project.eu\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">OSCARS <\/a>grant&nbsp;funding can be found on the relevant pages.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It is also possible to contact Marine Cotte (<a href=\"mailto:marine.cotte@esrf.fr\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">marine.cotte@esrf.fr<\/a>)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The ESRF (European Synchrotron Radiation Facility) is an international research centre based in Grenoble, France.
